BHMS Full Form – Additional Information

Medical science is a universe in itself. There are so many fields and for that matter sub-fields that comprise this universe. Medical science is one of the most fundamental fields for humankind, as it pertains to the treatment of human beings and other organisms. Because it has inherent importance, it has great value in the world today. There is no gainsaying that medical science is one of the most expensive education systems in the world nevertheless, it is one of the most profitable ones too. With time, there is an increase in the number of degree courses and specializations one can get in medical science and one such is Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery.

Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery, as mentioned earlier, is primarily an undergraduate degree course in medical science, which prepares students in homeopathy, the field of alternative medicines. This degree provides deep knowledge in the nitty-gritty of homeopathy and makes the student eligible to become a doctor in homeopathy and use the prefix Dr. A BHMS degree is a very viable option, if we take into consideration economic aspects because the third most popularly reported medication system in our country India is Homeopathy itself.

It is one of the favorites among Indian patients because it is cost-effective and generally generates no side effects. Homeopathy, after all, is a science that studies mind, emotions and body and the connection among them, which ultimately helps in determining the remedies. Apart from what that has been stated above, there are many facets in BHMS and in Homeopathy that must be known to everyone. So, we shall explore few very important aspects about BHMS. Here are five things about BHMS that you must know about.

Homeopathy

Before we move on to various technicalities of BHMS, let us briefly explore what Homeopathy as a medical science is. Homeopathy emerged in the year 1796 when the founder Samuel Hahnemann came up with a system on alternative medicines. Homeopathy is based on the theory that the elements that are responsible for diseases in healthy persons can be used to treat similar symptoms in ailing persons.

Thus, this makes Homeopathy a pseudoscience. In this system, the patient is treated by providing intakes of high dilutions of certain homeopathic substances, which are generally in tablet or liquid form. Such system is considered to possess healing powers though there are many critics of the same. There are countries that stringently regulate homeopathy while others are lax. Many countries require the practitioner to obtain a relevant degree in this respect.

The Indian Government has recognized Homeopathy as a part of the national medical system and is regulated by the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. In the year 1973, the Central Council of Homeopathy was founded that is responsible for overseeing higher education in the field of Homeopathy.
