BHEL Full Form is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. BHEL is a public sector enterprise, which is essentially a manufacturer of power plant equipment. It functions as manufacturing and engineering company located in New Delhi, India. The company was founded in the year 1964 and is presently the biggest engineering as well as a manufacturing company in India. The company was bestowed with the revered Maharatna status in the year 2013 by the Government of India on account of its brilliant performance. It is, therefore, now part of the elite group of 6 public sector undertakings which have been accorded the Maharatna status.
The company is involved in the design, manufacture, construction, servicing of a range of products, services, and systems required for the core sectors of Indian economy such as transportation, defence, oil & gas, industry, power, renewable energy, etc. The company presently operates 17 manufacturing units, 4 regional offices, 8 service centres, 15 regional centres 2 repair units, and 7 joint ventures enabling it to execute 150+ projects in India and abroad.
BHEL has maintained its leadership position during the period 2015-16 with 74 percent market share in Power Sector. It has been engaged in the export of industry and power segment services and products for more than 40 years. Its presence is spread across 76 countries including Oman, UAE, Bhutan, Iraq, New Zealand, Egypt, and Malaysia. BHEL is, therefore, one of the most successful public sector undertakings in India.
