ITES Full Form is Information Technology Enabled Services. ITES indicates the outsourcing of various processes where providers make use of the Internet and telecommunication technologies to offer services. This term applies mainly to the non-IT fields. It covers a vast range of sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, banking, finance, and telecommunication. Some of the key services rendered by ITES include payroll, bio-tech, call centers, medical transcription, credit card processing, insurance claims, and other similar services. ITES has been one of the fastest growing industries worldwide. This is because; most of the industrial giants and large businesses very often outsource their services to ITES from other countries. Initially, this was established in the beginning of 21st century. During that time only data entry works were outsourced. However, the current expansion in the number of sectors is due to the growth of technology and Internet.
ITES Full Form – Institute For Tropical Ecosystem Studies
Full Form of ITES is Institute For Tropical Ecosystem Studies. ITES is an operating unit within the University of Puerto Rico’s (abbreviated as UPR-RP) Natural Sciences of the Rio Peidras faculty. The institute presently funds research as well as internship programs for the undergraduate and postgraduate candidates. These programs include Research Experience For undergraduates (abbreviated as NSF-REU), Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professorate (abbreviated as AGEP), Center for Applied Tropical Ecology and Conservation (abbreviated as NSF-CREST-CATEC), Alliance for Minority Participation (abbreviated as AMP), Geo-Internships, Natural Human Systems in the Urbanizing Tropics (abbreviated as NSF-IGERT), and Research Experiences For Undergraduates (abbreviated as NSF-REU).
ITES manages many facilities in the campus which include laboratories equipped with capabilities to undertake the performance of a myriad of technologies utilized in atmospheric chemistry, environmental science, aquatic or territorial ecology and taxonomy. Many facilities have been recently developed such as the Tropical Limnology Laboratory and also, the Spatial Analysis Laboratory. It also maintains off-campus facilities such as El Verde Field Station, Cape San Juan Atmospheric Station, and a research center in Toa Baja. Additionally, the institute has monitoring sites that are located in Mona Island Reserve, the Rio Pedras watershed, and the Guanica Biosphere Reserve. The Institute is an official member of the Association of Ecosystem Research Center.
The ITES undertakes the following activities:
- It organizes research, which is relevant to the oversight of atmospheric chemistry and natural ecosystems in the tropical
- It creates and maintains long-term reference studies and experiments of ecosystems in the tropical region.
- It undertakes application of knowledge obtained for the development of mechanisms and restoration of degraded ecosystems in the tropical region.
- It undertakes awareness programs to increase public knowledge about the relevance of natural ecosystems for the welfare of humans by means of undergraduate and postgraduate education.
