Historical Reasons Behind Mahakal Temple
Well if we talk about the historical reasons behind Mahakal temple then as per the Shiv Puranas, in ancient times, there was 5 year old whose name was Shrikar. He used to notice the devotion of King Chandrasena towards Shiva Linga so he too started worshipping a stone taking it as the Linga however it was just a game for that boy but day by day his worshipping and devotion was increasing and at last Lord Shiva was so impressed from that guy and Pleased by the boy’s devotion Lord Shiva resided there as the Jyotirlinga form in Mahakal forest and from that time people started worship this Jyotilinga and after few years this small temple turned into huge one with the hard work of all the devotees of Lord Shiva.
Making of Mahakal Temple
Bhagwan Mahakaleshwar Temple is placed close to a lake and has an open yard encompassed by monstrous dividers. The sanctuary has five levels, one of that is underground. Metal lights light the path to the underground sanctum or Garbha Griha where the Jyotirlinga is arranged. The Linga is enormous in size and is surrounded by a snake of silver.
