Xavier Labour Relations Institute

XLRI Full Form is Xavier Labour Relations Institute. XLRI is a management school that was established by the Society of Jesus (also known as Jesuits). The institute is located in Jamshedpur city, Jharkhand, India and has a campus spread over 40 acres. The Institute was founded in the year 1955 and is, therefore, the oldest management school in the country. The institute offers a full-time course of the two-year program in the field of Human Resources Management, Global Business Management and a 15-month long full-time Doctoral fellow Program (abbreviated as FPM) and General Management Program (abbreviated as PGDM-GM) among other executive education programs.

XLRI is a reputed business management school in the country and it has been consistently placed among top five business schools in the country. In the year 2012, it was placed at the fourth position out of 72 business schools in the country by Outlook India. In the same year, CNBC-TV18 ranked it the 5th best business school in the country. Business Today, in the same year, named it the 4th best business school of 2012. XLRI’s Personal Management & Industrial Relations) has been described as the best Human Resource Course in Asia-Pacific region. The London Business School has recognized the contribution of the institute. In the year 2015, XLRI emerged as a shining star in several surveys and magazines’ rank lists.



The Institute conducts a village program, which is a compulsory part of the student induction process for students. It’s Fr Arrupe Centre for Ecology and Sustainability (abbreviated as FACES) is responsible for promoting practices and dialogues relating to the development of enterprises and society and to further these aims it conducts this village program officially called the Students’ Rural Immersion Program. To ensure successful execution of the program, the FACES has collaborated with 10 Non-governmental Organizations.
