It is a Certification mark that denotes whether a vehicle is fit according to the pollution control norms or not. This certification is intended to ensure that any vehicle that creates pollution above the regulated level, has to be withdrawn from the road with immediate effect.

The PUC certificate is issued when a new vehicle is brought. The validity is of 12 moths. After that, it has to be renewed on the periodical basis as mentioned in the norms, and according to the class of a vehicle. The vehicle owner does not need to struggle much. But if he doesn’t renew the certification after the end of its validity, he is penalized accordingly.
