Balanced Technology Extended
BTX Full Form is Balanced Technology Extended. It is a kind of form factor which was used as a replacement for ATX mother board form factor during 2004 and 2005. It helped to manage a few issues related to mother boards producing more heat and consuming more power. At the time of using newer technology which requires more power and more heat than issue arise. For alleviate the issue arose from newer technology BTX was designed. BTX is proposed by Intel. Gateway is the company which implements BTX first then followed by MPC and Dell. This was designed to decrease power and the heat that was generated by the system.
The technology included in BTX is advanced technology like Universal serial bus and peripheral component interconnects express. Due to less compatibility with ATX form factor Intel canceled its development. It provides a design which is very suitable for the small and large system included new features including (1) Having a lot of expansion slot, (2) Having better regulation of thermal and electricity, (3) Configurations support multiple systems, (4) Having air flow path which supports large cooling capability, (5)Help in reducing the north and south bridge latency, (6)For back-panel input /output controller, it has better component placement, (7) No height requirement which helps in system integration.
It has a great feature like enhanced thermal module: the component which producing large heat is controlled by putting this in front of the board, with the help of drawing air over this .The thermal module consists of following: heat sink, seal, clip, and duct. Two kinds of the thermal module but we use type 1 thermal module. In short, BTX is designed to support and reducing heat which helps in balancing system performance.
