Bachelor of Computer Science

BCS Full Form is Bachelor of Computer Science. BCS is an undergraduate course in Computer Science. Computer Science is part of engineering science which involves principles and practical use of computers. The duration of the course is 3 years, with varying number of semesters that are usually 6 in number. A typical BCS program comprises both theory and laboratory practical that are based on the oretical and mathematical foundations of computing. The course can be pursued through Distance Education or Correspondence program. The eligibility criteria for BCS are similar to that of any other undergraduate course in India. Interested candidate is required to have qualified 10+2 or any equivalent examination with subjects Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English.

Those candidates who have obtained a 3-year Diploma course following Intermediate Commerce, S.S.C., or Art Examination also qualify the eligibility criteria. Many institutes conduct entrance examinations thus, setting one extra criterion to be met. The course covers four subjects: Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Programming Theory, and Electronics. The syllabus covers C++ programming, java Programming, Computer Networks, Visual Programming, Mathematical Foundation, Digital Architecture, Digital Fundamental, Software testing, Oracle, and RDSBMS, etc.

 

There are quite a few employment opportunities available post-completion of the degree course in the areas such as Banks, Financial Institutions, Government Agencies, Consultancies, Desktop Publishing, Surveillance Companies, Technical Support, Insurance Providers, Traffic Light Management, System Maintenance, Software Development Companies, Electronic Equipment Manufacturers, etc. The degree holders can take jobs of DTP operators, Developers, Programmer Analysts, Lecturers, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc. There are additional opportunities available in the case where the candidate decides to take up post-graduate studies.
