Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad
ABVP Full Form is Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. ABVP is a student organization in India that follows the right wing doctrine. It is affiliated with the RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which is a Hindu Nationalist organization. It joins occasionally with the youth wing of the BJP, BJYM or Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, to carry out numerous activities. According to ABVP, it is the biggest student organization in India. The foundations of the ABVP were laid in the year 1948. Its main aim lay in countering influences of communists on various college and university campuses.
In the year 1958, the status of the main organizer of ABVP was given to Professor Kelkar. The credit of forming the organization into what it is today went to him. Since the year 1961, numerous segments of ABVP have involved themselves in riots against the Muslims. However, it also took an interest in problems that plagues the lower middle classes, for example, corruption, since the year 1970. The organization also involved itself into the government inertia. In the JP movement of the year 1970, it played a significant part in the agitation policies.
In states like Bihar and Gujarat, this resulted in the collaboration in student activists. Such efforts rewarded the ABVP immensely, especially after the Emergency. There was a tremendous growth in the number of students who obtained the membership of this organization during that period. The manifesto of the ABVP consists of agendas like university and educational reforms. It participates in student elections that are held in various universities and colleges. The Rashtriya Chhatrashakti is its official magazine.
